Original 1960s–70s steel tubs
Sound tubs with fifty years of wear: dull bottoms, rusty drains, chips.
Solid 1960s and 70s homes and townhomes with original steel tubs — some of the best candidates for refinishing on the island.
Pearl City and ʻAiea grew fast in the 1960s and 70s. The hillside subdivisions — Pacific Palisades, Waiau, Newtown, Royal Summit, ʻAiea Heights — and the townhome and condo communities around Waimalu and Pearlridge were mostly built with porcelain-on-steel bathtubs.
Many of those homes are still in the same family, and the tub is the original. After fifty years it's due: the gloss is gone, the drain is rusty, and there may be a chip or two with an orange halo.
For a multigenerational household, losing a bathroom for two weeks isn't an option. Refinishing takes about three hours, has no odor, and the tub is back in use the next day. You don't need to send kūpuna or keiki out of the house while we work.
If you're preparing a longtime family home for sale, the bathrooms are where buyers hesitate. A refinished tub reads as "clean and cared for" for a flat $635 — far less than any replacement. We also serve Hālawa, Salt Lake and the neighborhoods around Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam.
