Good questions

Bathtub refinishing, explained.

Straight answers about price, timing, the finish and what we do and don't work on.

Price and booking

How much does bathtub refinishing cost on Oʻahu?
A standard steel or cast iron tub is a flat $635, refinished start to finish — prep, repairs, coating and fresh caulking included. Tubs with an old peeling coating or heavy damage can cost more; we confirm the price from your photos before we come out.
How do I get an estimate?
Text one or two photos of your tub to (808) 208-1000 or use the estimate form. We'll reply with a confirmed price and available dates. It's free.
When do I pay?
For a standard residential job, payment is due when the work is finished and you've seen the result.
What days do you work?
Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM. We're closed Sundays.
Which parts of Oʻahu do you serve?
All of the main residential areas: Honolulu, Waikīkī, Hawaiʻi Kai, Kailua, Kāneʻohe, ʻAiea, Pearl City, Waipahu, Mililani, Kapolei and ʻEwa Beach. See the service area.

The job

How long does the job take?
About 3 hours, in a single visit. There's no second trip. The tub is ready for normal use 24 hours after we finish.
Is there a smell?
No. The coating is odorless and there are no harsh solvent fumes during or after the job — one reason it works well in condos and occupied homes.
Do I need to leave home during the work?
No. There are no fumes and nothing is sprayed, so you can stay home and carry on as normal.
How should I prepare?
Clear the tub and the area around it, fix any dripping faucet, and take sliding shower doors and their frame off the tub rim. That's all.
Do you remove shower doors?
No. Glass doors need to be removed before we arrive so the whole tub, including the rim under the track, can be coated.
Is caulking included?
Yes. Fresh, flexible caulking around the tub is part of every job at no extra charge.
Do you do just the caulking, or a spot repair?
No. We only do complete tub refinishing — caulking and repairs are part of that service, not sold separately.

What we refinish

Do you refinish acrylic or fiberglass tubs?
No. We only refinish porcelain-enamel tubs over steel or cast iron, where the coating bonds best and lasts longest. Not sure what you have? See how to tell.
Do you refinish clawfoot tubs?
Yes — the interior and the rim, for the same flat price. More about clawfoot tubs.
Do you refinish sinks, tile or shower pans?
No. We specialize in bathtubs only.
Can you refinish a tub that was already reglazed?
Yes, in most cases. We strip the failed coating as part of prep; it may cost more depending on how much there is. A coating applied in the last few weeks has to cure before it can be redone.
Can I get a color other than white?
No. The finish is glossy white only.
Is the front of the tub done too?
Yes. On a standard alcove tub the front apron is coated along with the inside.

The finish

How long does a refinished tub last?
With normal care, up to 15 years. The finish carries a 5-year warranty written on your receipt.
How is pour-on different from spray refinishing?
The coating is poured and levels itself into a thicker, smoother layer, with no overspray and no odor. See the comparison.
Is the surface slippery?
It looks glossy but has a dense, slightly grippy feel. For extra traction use a bath mat without suction cups.
How do I clean it?
Mild liquid cleaner and a soft sponge. No abrasives, no suction-cup mats. Full details in the care guide.
Is it safe for kids and pets?
The coating is odorless and there are no harsh solvent fumes. Just keep little hands and paws out of the tub for the first 24 hours.
Does Hawaii's humidity affect the finish?
The coating cures into a hard, sealed, non-porous surface designed for wet environments. Humidity and salt air are exactly why sealing a worn tub matters here.
