Caring for your refinished tub — and our 5-year warranty.
Keep the tub dry for the first 24 hours, clean it gently after that, and the finish will look new for years.
Four habits that keep the gloss for years.
A refinished tub needs less scrubbing than the old one did, not more. A little care goes a long way.
Keep it completely dry
No water, no touching, nothing resting on the rim. Check that the faucet and shower head aren't dripping.
Fit the overflow cover
The overflow plate goes back on after the cure — it takes two minutes with a screwdriver. Then use the tub normally.
Clean gently
A soft sponge or cloth with a mild liquid cleaner or dish soap. Rinse and you're done — the new surface isn't porous, so dirt doesn't grip.
Let it dry between uses
Hang bath mats up, stand bottles on a shelf, and fix drips promptly.
Cleaning a refinished tub.
Do
- Use mild liquid cleaners, dish soap or a non-abrasive bathroom spray
- Use a soft sponge, microfiber cloth or soft brush
- Rinse the tub after bathing
- Use a bath mat without suction cups, and hang it to dry
- Fix a dripping faucet as soon as you notice it
- Keep bottles and cans off the tub ledge
Don't
- Abrasive powders or scouring pads
- Bleach left to sit, drain openers splashed on the finish, or acid cleaners
- Suction-cup mats — they trap water and can lift the finish
- Hair dye, nail polish remover or self-tanner left on the surface
- Dropping heavy or sharp objects
- Leaving wet metal cans or razors on the tub
The 5-year warranty
Every tub we refinish carries a 5-year warranty on the finish under normal household use and care. There's no separate certificate to keep track of: the warranty is written on your paid receipt, and the receipt is your proof.
With the care described on this page, a poured finish can last up to 15 years.
What isn't covered
The warranty is for the coating, so it doesn't cover damage from outside causes:
- Chips or gouges from dropped or sharp objects
- Damage from abrasive or harsh chemical cleaners
- Damage under suction-cup mats
- Marks caused by water on the finish during the first 24 hours, including a dripping faucet
- Plumbing leaks or problems with the tub's structure
If something goes wrong

Stain tips
- Soap film: warm water and dish soap on a soft cloth.
- Hard-water marks: a mild vinegar-based glass cleaner, wiped and rinsed.
- Self-tanner or hair dye: wipe up straight away; for a mark that has set, try a vinegar-based glass cleaner on a soft cloth.
Before your appointment
- Clear everything out of and around the tub
- Have any dripping faucet repaired
- Remove sliding shower doors and their frame from the tub rim
- Plan for the bathroom's tub to be out of use for 24 hours
